An experiential process group is a therapeutic setting where participants engage in interpersonal interactions to explore emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in the present moment. The focus is on here-and-now experiences rather than solely discussing past events.
Patients actively participate by sharing their thoughts, feelings, and reactions to others in the group. They explore interpersonal dynamics, practice communication skills, and receive feedback in a supportive environment. Group members often take turns discussing personal experiences, receiving insights and support from both the facilitator and other group members.
Common group topics include relationships, communication patterns, assertiveness, self-esteem, coping skills, and emotional regulation. The group process itself becomes a tool for self-discovery, fostering personal growth, and developing healthier ways of relating to oneself and others.
If this type of therapeutic experience interests you and you’d like to learn more, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to have a consultation with you about the different groups I co-lead to see if one of them may be a good fit for your development.
